Meet the runners
Are you looking for a way to build up your weekly walks? Is your group keen to try something different? Or are you a solo walker keen to build up your steps?
Parkrun is welcoming Heart Foundation walkers to their free weekly sessions on Saturday mornings around the country. Parkrun organise free, weekly timed 5 km walks or runs. These are set up as events usually in pleasant parklands surroundings and are run by a volunteer network - much like Heart Foundation Walking.
If you sign up to parkrun and come along to their weekly Saturday events, your walk or run will be counted towards the Walker Recognition Scheme if you are a Heart Foundation Walking group walker. If you're using the Heart Foundation Walking app, this is another great way to build up your steps.
“At parkrun we love to welcome walkers, and we are finding more and more people enjoy walking at our events", says Tim Oberg, CEO of parkrun Australia. We have a tailwalker at every event, so you’ll never be the last to finish. It’s really just about taking part and doing it at your own level of fitness and pace”
If you're keen to go ahead and register for parkrun, register as an individual and choose “Heart Foundation Walking” as your ‘running club’.
